Figure 5. One of the original sketches by Sir Robert Matthew for a wooden rotunda, with the position of the statue of King Robert the Bruce, and a small interpretation centre attached to the rotunda. The concept would later be detailed by Eric Stevenson and become a concrete rotunda with a main (larger) visitor centre located near the roadside (Matthew, c. 1961-62).
